SO VERY REAL! Social Networking has become very dangerous.

SO REAL!

Wow, this story was so real! Everyone is engaging in social networking during the Internet age and we hear more and more about people getting duped. Anybody’s Daughter is a well written story about this very subject. As parents we try to protect our children from the unknown, but they find crafty ways to deceive us.

Brianna is a 13-year old girl living with her mother after her father was killed in the war. Brianna’s Uncle Dre gave her an I-phone as a gift and the trouble begins. She created a Face book account unbeknownst to her mother and meets a boy named Jaden on line. They correspond and plan to meet one morning before school.

The best made plans go awry and Brianna is kidnapped into the world of teenage sex trafficking. There is no 14-year old Jaden and Brianna is afraid but believes that her Uncle Dre will rescue her. Uncle Dre has put his criminal past behind him until Brianna is kidnapped. He enlists the aid of family and friends to help find his niece. The story takes place over a period of 5 days and it is very intense, heartbreaking, and quite disturbing. The boldness of the players in the sex trafficking business is sickening to say the least and young girls are lured into it with false promises or just kidnapped. The very people who are supposed to protect our children can be just as greedy and callous.

Brianna’s story had a better ending than most that are pulled into this underworld of greed and evil. Pamela Samuels Young did an excellent job of creating this fast paced story!

you can't make this stuff up

As a crime novel, this is a 3-star. As reportage it's a 5. As someone who works with youth caught up in the juvenile justice system, including kids involved in prostitution, I read this out of professional curiosity. The story here is no exaggeration. Ms. Young takes no liberties with the truth. The excess of brutality and exploitation is not invented. Sadly, the phenomenon of child sex trafficking described in this book is fact, not fiction -a terrible reality for way too many of our kids. I hope this book educates people ; these kids are not criminals, they're victims, and they deserve compassion and support. Thank you Ms Young for shining a light into this dark world - and for your commitment to keep helping.

Must Read!!!

Powerful, compelling and real!!!! This is a must read for parents, grandparents raising children, foster parents, educators and I could go on. Human trafficking is in LIVE and LIVING in color. Unfortunately, the invisible children are sought out by predators and are held capture.

Samuels-Young's novel clearly depicts the mind of the predator and the fortitude of a loving family(uncle) who fights back to rescue not only his own, but "Anybody's Daughter"!!!!

For advocates to STOP Human Trafficking this book is for you!!!!

The Disciple

I found this book to be extremely well written for a first book, Simon has woven together his own early life, the present and the past, as seen through his "trancing's " very well . It portrays Jesus, Joseph and Mary as people with all their human fragilities not as has been depicted in the Bible, which I feel has been interpreted to make us believe what the scholars of the time wanted us to believe not what is was really like. After having a healing session with Simon I know what he see's is real the Angel's told him things about me and my family that no one , including Simon could possibly know. I love the story and have absolute faith in Simon's healing abilities.

Thoughts On The Disciple

So hold on to your hats when you sit down to read this one! Be prepared to have a few raised eyebrows, a lot of questions, and for the skeptic, answers that may not satisfy.

This book focuses on Simon Hay, who started out as a plumber and after an out of body experience recounts "trances" of spirits including Jesus, Mary Magdalene, John the Baptist, and Hay's spirit guide Gegu. Simon learns through these "trances" that 2000 years ago he was Judas, and betrayed Jesus. He lays out in the pages an incredible story, that may offend some believers, and leave others questioning their beliefs about Jesus and his life.

Hay also shares quite openly that not everyone (even a few in his own circle of friends) believe in entirety, everything he's related from "trance" . However those in his group do believe he is a superior medium. So at the end of the day, it is left to the individual reader to decide if Hay is who he claims to be, or if he is another in a stream of faith healers or mystics who believe they were someone famous in a past life.

The book is well laid out, and the progression of information does build the story in a well thought out format. Not being, overly well versed in the entire biblical story of Jesus and not versed at all in "trance" writing, this book left this reviewer struggling at times to keep track of who is who, and where they fit into the story. This is no discredit to Hay or his writing ability; its just the reader may want to bush up on their biblical history a bit before plunging in. It is evident however that Simon Hay believes what he has written, and at the end of the book, the reader will need to decide on their own as to his credibility.

One surprise in this book, is the amount of sexually related details and stories that the spirits provide to Simon as they share their life stories. Some of these details are quite graphic and a bit unsettling in places. Hay also speaks in places on very taboo subjects for many christian's such as homosexuality, virginity and Hay sends very clear messages with this book on what he believe's to be Jesus' take on these subjects.

This book is graphic in places, and flies in the face of Christian doctrine to some degree, so for those readers who offend easily or prefer to not question their beliefs, then I would perhaps recommend caution in selecting this particular piece. To qualify that statement, I was in about 100 pages into it and seriously debated finishing and/or reviewing this book, as it is not my intention to tread on anyone's beliefs and/or offend anyone. I did opt to finish, because my curiosity got the better of me, and I felt that I wanted to share this book, because it does go against the grain which makes it of interest. If however, you are open minded, spiritual in nature, and willing to explore and question, then I'd check this one out.

Can't wait for the next instalment

I'm not sure I can adequately express my emotions as a result of reading this e-book.

Given human nature has not changed that much in 2,000 or so years, it confirmed for me what I had long believed, that my God's Word, the Bible, has been tampered with to such an extent that we are left with what little man or the church wanted us to know and not the entirety of what God wanted us to know.

I cried for Rachael and Mary, and wished Joseph had been a better man. I am in awe of both John the Baptist's and Jesus' acceptance of their 'fate'. I will never look at an image of the Crucifixion in the same light again, and the cross is now less of a symbol of Faith and more a murder weapon.

I loved this book right from the beginning and wished that it wouldn't end. I can't wait for the next instalment...something on the Essenes?

Records Management How To - A Much Needed Resource

The Lawyer's Guide to Records Management and Retention, by George C. Cunningham and John C. Montana published by the ABA Law Practice Management Section, is long overdue and perhaps one of the best written books on the subject. With the prolific increase in the number of cases involving electronic discovery, this book helps to serve those law firms and law departments in understanding records management in a non-boring way. Chapters include both paper records as well as electronic records; developing (and sticking to) a records retention schedule; and how to get lawyers and staff involved in the process. You'll learn so much by reading this book and, best of all, it is extremely well organized so that you can quickly and easily find detailed answers to your questions. The book comes with an accompanying CD with plenty of helpful worksheets. I don't think anyone will be disappointed with this book - it's very informative and extremely educational to lawyers, legal assistants, and records managers.

Required text for a college class. Wasn't the cheapest choice either, the IPad had a version at $20 less.
I did like the ease of moving throughout the book. I loved having a digital version instead of a awkward book to haul around. Not a bad book, but I wouldn't have bought it on my own, too expensive. Several sections were extremely dry and difficult to get read. Haven't noticed any changes over the 6th edition either. Quit updating books if you aren't going to make it better.

Solid Grounding for Target Audience

Interpersonal Communication - Relating to Others by Beebe, Beebe, and Redmond explores the way we interact with each other, and how body language, distance in space, and other issues can help or hinder the process.

The book is very well laid out, with each topic covered thoroughly in its chapter, both with text explanations and graphics. I sometimes gripe about the amount of graphics some college textbooks have, and certainly some of the graphics in this book fall into the "silly" or "useless" category. Still, many of them are quite helpful. For example, a graphic showing space zones helps make it quite clear how close or far away people stand from each other to be in different zones.

The content seems fairly strongly geared at an 18-20 year old, and while certainly many college students fall into that category, I found several of the examples fairly silly or simplified. I'm sure even young adults would appreciate a more thorough coverage of the topic and could handle a more in depth explanation.

Also, some of their examples are a bit iffy. Lance Armstrong is used in discussions about "improving performance levels". An essay talks about the US becoming the brain of the world. The authors are upset than an "incredible" (their words, meant derisively) amount of people agreed with the statement that "I am an important person". As compared with what? Should all those people be thinking they are an UNimportant person? Also, the authors stated that most people spend 80%-90% of each day communicating with others. I find that quite unlikely. Even with as wired as we are to technology, many people still spend long periods of time on solitary tasks.

Still, the book provides a solid grounding in its topic area, and especially for young adults it is geared towards communicating to them as clearly as it can. A good introduction to the material.

I purchased this book with my own funds for the purpose of taking a college course on interpersonal communication.

Review is not regarding the quality of the books material

I just purchased the kindle version of the book for a class so I cannot speak to the content yet. I will say the Kindle book is a disappointment. I've never ordered a textbook so maybe this is standard but I don't like it. It loads up like a magazine not a book. The only option for changing the size is pinch and zoom. There is no reading view. It's killing my eyes because the print is so tiny and the constant pinch, zoom, downsize and swipe is a hassle to read a page. My alternative was to use it on the app for PC and that was ok. I went to load the app on my laptop so I could read on my lunch time but it won't let me pull the copy up again. I have to deregister a device.... it's my book and I paid $75 for it why can't I read it in as many locations as works for my life?

I think these types of things ought to be noted more clearly on the page when you spend this much money for a textbook.. be warned.

Great First Book for Aspiring Stock Traders

I really liked this little book for the way the author compressed what he had learned from his first six years as a small stock trader into 100 pages. He takes the reader through the basics that they will need to know about stocks and how the market works before they get started in active trading. He discusses how to focus your trading account on only a few small cap stocks that you should be an expert on and know about inside and out. The company's story, its fundamentals, and technical price action along with the understanding of the best time to buy and sell these stocks based on your study of historical price action. He does a great job on explaining the drivers of market sentiment, and your stocks industry group and how they interact with your stocks price action. There are also chapters about short selling and catalysts that move stock prices like earnings, news, and stock splits.

The crucial elements of a trader's psychology are also discussed borrowing from elements of Zen practice. Many do not understand the crucial role of controlling ones emotions has in successful trading this author does.

I enjoyed reading this book many great nuggets of wisdom in discussing how poker relates to trading in many ways and the delights of being a a stock market operator and maintaining a balanced life. I highly recommend to new traders to start here, it is a perfect pre-quel to my own books.

A "little" Steve Cohen discribes best the author of this little book

I also enjoyed this little book, really a lot of useful information on how to pick up a few focus stocks, fundamental analysis, technical analysts, market sentment, sector, short selling, competition, catalysts, risk management, trading psychology and many other important topics.

However, the author of this little book reminded me of a young version of Steve Cohen, the founder of SAC, considering his age, passion for poker, humor, annual performance of around +50%, emphasis on psychology, long/short swing equity trading style combining FA with TA and paying attention to the 3 major influences on stock price: market sentiment, industry and stocks, while always tracking the competition, catalysts and insiders.

I am now rereading this little book for the second time, as there are really tons of useful information.
Really a good little book always to keep on hand and reread while you have a chance, be it at home or travelling.
I learnt more from this little book than I had learnt from other stock market books.

This book author is like a "small Eddie Lampert":

The philosophy of this book author reminded me a bit of Eddie Lampert's stock investing philosophy, for the author also advises to focus on 4 or 5 simple retail/consumer stocks. However, in contrast to Eddie Lampert, the author advises retail stock traders to focus on (actively trade) 4 or 5 small cap retail/consumer stocks to avoid cometition with big institutions such as hedge funds, investment banks, HFT, etc. who usually dominate the large caps, as small caps are mostly dominated by retail stock traders/investors. The author also reminded me a bit of "small Eddie Lampert" due to his relatively young age and emphasis on good research, staying with your focus stocks for a long time, and zenlike focus, simplicity, discipline, and open-mindedness.

Although this small book is more suitable for stock traders, not for buy-and-holders, I learnt even more about stock investing from it that I had learnt from almost any other stock investing book about earnings, revenue, cash, debt, ROE, management, products, sector, shareholders, share repurchases, dividends, and so on. What also makes this small book unique is that it has a chapter devoted to our competitors like market makers, hedge funds, insiders, equity analysts, retail stock traders and investors, institutional traders, media, and politicians.

This is a very good small book for both retail stock traders and investors.

Beautiful and Evocative Halloween Inspired - designs printed on one side of heavyweight non-perforated paper

[[VIDEOID:d5fbc85bd8d56853189f5796ff7aaf94]]I purchase quite a few fantasy art coloring books but the ones that top my list both in subject and in quality are those by Jasmine Becket-Griffith. Her gorgeous girls have large eyes are so expressive and they simply call to me. The art is beautiful and the publishing of the book is, once again, outstanding.

There are 46 pages of Halloween inspired designs filled with 55 different images. There are 43 full page designs and three pages which include 4 each smaller designs. As with her first book, I find it interesting to get the smaller ones and I appreciate that by doing the publishing this way, I get more to color. In fact, the only problem I have with the book is it is so good, I want more. Hopefully, there will be future coloring books in this fantastic series.

The designs are on the right hand side of the book. On the sheet opposite (which is the backside of the previous design), the artist ha provided the name of the artwork and when it was created and for what purpose. She then gives us some background information as to how and why she created the artwork the way that she did. I appreciated this in the first book and am glad to see it once again.

This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing my coloring medium on the paper. I will list, in the comments section below, the coloring medium I used to test this book and with which I usually color my projects.

Paper is heavy weight, cream color, slightly rough and non-perforated

The book has a detached dustcover (inside and attached cover are both left blank.)

Sewn binding (easily to remove several pages at a time by snipping threads)

Designs have a framing line around the outer edges

Alcohol-based markers bleed through the paperweight

Water-based markers, India ink pens and gel pens did not bleed through. Gel pens required a bit more drying time.

Colored pencils work well with this paper. I was able to get good color and to get deeper pigment by layering the same color. I found that I could layer multiple colors well and easily blend using a pencil style blending stick. This was the case with both oil and wax-based pencils.

I am using my alcohol-based markers with pencils for detail work and shading. Because of this, I use a blotter page of card stock under my working page. It keeps ink from seeping through to the page below.

Halloween Coloring Book

Jasmine Becket-Griffith's Halloween Coloring Book is my favorite coloring book to date! It contains 55 of her Strangling portraits as line drawings for our coloring pleasure. 43 are full page illustrations, and the other 12 are quarter pages (quicker to color, but no less gorgeous and detailed). The pictures range from cute to creepy, and there's a wide variety of girls. There's fairies, pixies, witches, wolves, pumpkins, candy, skeletons, and all kinds of Halloween themed goodies. It's just a delight to flip through, even without coloring anything.

This Halloween Coloring Book is very high quality. While it is a paperback, the cover is sturdy cardboard with a nice dust jacket over it. The paper for the coloring pages is very thick, slightly textured, and off white. I primarily used colored pencils and gel pens, which glide right over the pages with no problem. I also used markers, which only leave very faint shadows on the back of the page. However, the pictures are printed single-sided so that's not something you need to worry about. The backs of the pictures actually have a short paragraph describing the picture on the facing page, which is a very nice touch.

Even though the pictures are single sided, the pages are not perforated for easy removal (probably because of the descriptions). However, all of the pictures have a lined border around them. I love this for two reasons. One, none of the pictures run into the binding! Two, it gives a natural stopping point for the backgrounds, which is something I haven't mastered yet. So, if you would like to remove your finished pages, or the page you're working on, you certainly can since there's plenty of space between the coloring area and the binding.

If you're looking for a cute, creepy, and fun coloring book, Jasmine Becket-Griffith's Halloween Coloring Book would be a top choice! There's a range of details to suit any mood and coloring ability. Some pages have a lot of wide spaces, some have a lot of little details, many have a mix of details and larger areas to fill in. The girls in the pictures are absolutely adorable and I always feel inspired when I look at them. It's easy to let your imagination run wild when choosing colors, or you can always look up the artist's original work for some ideas.

Awesome images and paper!!!

I love Jasmine Becket-Griffith's coloring books! The pages are thick enough I can use different types of media with out them destroying the paper. I have used colored pencils (with and with out mineral spirits as a blending agent), watercolor pencils, markers, gel pens, and other medias with little paper problems. I found that I have to go easy on the water when using it with my colored pencils or the paper will get damaged a tiny bit but not a huge amount. I have bought and returned several coloring books due to paper quality. I can not stand it when I spend $10-$15 on a coloring book and the pictures are beautiful but the paper is nothing more then cheap copy paper. It is important to me to be able to use what ever mediums I want when coloring books or drawing or whatever. She really delivers on these books with amazing images and quality paper. The only thing I would change is making the pages perforated so they are removable as I like to pull them out one by one and color them. I just cut all the pages out of the book and put them inside sheet protectors in a 3 ring binder that way I can color the ones I want when I want. I put the finished pictures in one binder and the ones I'm working on or have yet to start in another. I am extremely picky about my coloring book images and pages and things so thats why I do what I do with keeping the pages separate and everything. I feel a since of accomplishment with every picture I finish coloring and love showing them off to my husband and friends. I am not good at drawing but I enjoy being artistic and her coloring books really allow me to show off my coloring skills and experiment with different techniques and mediums!
I will say there are times when I bought other coloring books because they looked nice and the reviews said they had good quality paper and then when I received them I was extremely disappointed that they only had cheap copy paper or just slightly above copy paper quality. That is not the case at all with this artist books! I wish more companies would produce coloring books with this kind of quality paper.

Crum's optimistic how-to stresses that conflicts are not games, which have winning or losing as their outcome; a conflict is a dance of energy, and if you embrace it in order to work through it, learning and growth occur naturally. Cofounder of the Windstar Foundation with singer John Denver (who wrote the book's foreword and supplied its photographs), Crum has adapted the Japanese martial art of aikido to what he calls the Aiki Approach to conflict resolution. Mental exercises for centering, photos of aikido postures and graphs of mindsets accompany this self-help manual. Examples of conflict-solving by business people, artists, politicians and others illustrate key points. Crum's New Age jargon is annoying ("Accept your correctedness"; "choose to cocreate"). His method seems to consist of equal parts positive thinking and Oriental wisdom, with aikido as the guiding metaphor. Prentice Hall Book Club alternate.

Not "fight or flight" but FLOW!

Thomas Crum uses his martial arts expertise to offer helpful insights about those situations in which you find yourself in conflict with another person and feel like fighting or running away. He says: "Flow!" In other words remain centered, redirect their energy: deflect, step aside, don't respond in kind, don't try to block. This is a basic concept of Aikido and the "Aiki Way" which he has derived from it. You don't have to be a martial artist to gain from this book. By acknowledging the visceral connection we associate with conflict he gets you much further than many books based strictly on communication theory.

How to turn the crisis of conflict to an opportunity.

Conflicts can be disastrous or miraculous says Thomas Crum in the Magic Conflict, depending on how you react to them. If you feel threatened and try to defend yourself, you will lose even if you win. If you know you will lose, you probably will. If you hope to win and work hard at winning, you MAY just wear yourself out and fall into bitterness and decay. OR you MAY take a leap from the you OR me attitude to the you AND me attitude, says Crum. This is the magic of conflict. That we both care so much that we are willing to talk until we learn from each other. Understanding each other's concerns, we can see other possibilities, win-win solutions. Through the alchemy of conflict, we can turn the base metal of discouragement and divisiveness into the gold of understanding a new paradigm.
